This blog is intended for my wife, Alison, to log how much she runs. Currently I (Desi) enjoy running the distance between my house and the mailbox. I get more excited about my wife's running than she does. My wife completed the Top of the Mountain marathon in Logan, Utah(2007) with the personal best time of 3:33 her first marathon.

Mesa Falls Marathon  3:25

Ali  has some awesome friends to run with that continue to keep her on the run and very motivated most of the time.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Ali's Goals:

Work on getting stronger in shorter distance races.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Ali : Try keep fit and running the rest of my life.  Help those around me appreciate the importance of staying fit and healthy.

Maybe get into the couple running thing with my wife, but I don't know!( motivation is lacking)

Personal:

We have 4 children (2 girls, and 2 boys). I am very supportive of my wife and her running.   I do all the bragging for her. Played football at BYU, but I never have had the long distance threshold.  I blame that on my size.   We met at a local dance club while attending college. We have been married for 11 wonderful years.

Happy New Year everyone!  I did the circuit training class today with some women in my neighborhood.  I like to see them work hard to get into shape.  It's a good toning class for me and it gets my heart rate up a little.  The fun began at 11:00 when I met up with my running friends Amber , Jamie , Michelle, and Josse for a 7 mile run around the Spanish Fork river bottoms.  It wasn't too bad outside once your body got used to the frigid air. Thanks for the run guys.

I had to run on the treadmill because my husband had to work.  So I had to switch with a friend to babysit my kids. I ran on the treadmill and I did two one mile intervals mixed in my slower miles at a 6: 03 and a 6:20 min. pace.  It was hard.   Then I did 15 min on the stair climber.  It was a good workout.

I did the treadmill for six miles then I did some upper body weight training. I hater being confined to indoors sometimes. I like running outside because as far as I go I know I have to turn around and come back.  On a treadmill I can stop and I'm done. Oh well, at least I did something.

Jamie and I met up at 6:30 and ran in Springrville thinking we were getting out of the wind.  Sucks  for us because the wind was blowing in adifferent direction in Springville.  Despite the wind and rain. we toughed out 12 miles .  We both almost peed our pants from a dog sneaking up on us and scaring us . It was probably funny to watch, but our hearts were racing pretty fast.  Thanks for the run Jamie.

I heard the wind this morning and knew Jamie was running toward my house.  I drove to her house to get her and she was freezing.  We decided to run in Springville to get away from the wind.  We were good until we got into Mapleton and had the wind in our face for about a mile.  I kept missing where we were supposed to turn so we had to keep backtracking (sorry Jamie)  We finally made it back to our car after all the changes , and slipping on the ice we did.  I told Jamie we probably should have stayed in Spanish Fork she agreed, but oh well, we got our run in.

I went down to the gym and did weights with my husband around 10:00.

I did taebo this morning I felt like I could run also, but I had to get back home to my kids because my husband worked a graveyard and was sleeping. I also taught the circuit class at my church today for the ladies in my neighborhood. We had 8 women show up today. I'm really glad I can do this for the women in my neighborhood. I can't wait to get a run in with Jamie tomorrow.

I did the circuit training class today for the ladies in my neighborhood today.  They were calling me Jillian. It was pretty funny. I kept telling them it was there workout and they need push it their hardest.  Some of the ladies need a little more motivation than others.

I drove to her house because it was a little windy.  We ran around IFA kind of .  We looped back on the spanish fork trail over that way than down by the factory right off the highway.  IT wasn't that windy the way we went thank goodness.  I went down to the gym later and did a weight class. We ran  our 8.5er in about 1 hour 12 min.

I've had a rough day today. I woke up this morning at 5:00 to go to the gym. My husband just got home from his graveyard shift and my baby woke up. I couldn't leave her with him because he needed to sleep. So I stayed home hoping she would go back to sleep but I fell back to sleep instead. It was too late to get anything in by the time I woke up because I had to get my kids ready for school and get ready for a funeral. A lady in our neighborhood died of cancer. She left behind 3 kids. By the time the funeral was over I was drained emotionally and I had a headache from crying so much. I took some motrin. I got my kids from school. When I returned home I told my husband that I needed to get out for a few miles . He let me go ( God bless him ) and I got in a run around the golf course. I even ran up the hill to the gun range (that one was for you Jamie). IT was an emotional run I be crying one second and trying to get to the end the next. Life to me is like a hard run. Sometimes you just want to give up and quit (it would be easier) but you always know that once you are finished it was all worth the effort.
